ACPM invites you to a lecture by Brian Schmidt, DPM, on "Research: Concept to Impact." This is a practical, clinician‑focused guide to transforming meaningful clinical questions into high‑impact research. Using real-world examples from diabetic foot care, this talk highlights clear methods, clinically relevant statistics, and effective publishing strategies to help clinicians turn ideas into impactful scholarship.

Learning objectives:
1. Identify a clinically relevant knowledge gap in podiatric medicine by critically appraising current literature and epidemiologic data and translate that gap into a feasible research question with potential to improve patient outcomes.

2. Apply principles of clear methodological communication and clinically meaningful statistics to design, interpret, and present research findings that emphasize clinical impact (e.g., risk ratios, absolute risk, and patient‑centered outcomes) rather than solely statistical significance and implement a structured strategy for manuscript development and journal targeting, including authorship planning and dissemination, to improve professional performance in research productivity and scholarly publication.
